Wow, yet another wonderful interview. A couple quick comments.
1) Mother of Pearl, this song should be a rock classic, period. There is something about this song that just moves you emotionally and dares the performer to give into it and give in Wendy & Lisa do. Halfway through I found myself just floored by their performance...which reminded me of
2) A good friend of mine attended Wendy & Lisa's NY gig in support of girlbros at Alrene Groceries (?) and she commented how bewildered she was at the "full band sound" the two delivered during the show. These two performances must have been what she was talking about.
and
3) I will never forget W&L calling Maya Rudolph after giving birth and performing "Mother of Pearl" for Pearl's mum during one of their Pacific Largo shows....I think of that because I read some excellent reviews today for Maya's lastest film "Away We Go", directed by Sam Mendes. As aweful as big studios and record labels are I feel that real artist are finally finding their footing in this new economy. Something must be going right when Maya gets to play the lead female character and Wendy & Lisa get to release a great album...within the same year.
Thanks for another great interview. Well worth staying past my bedtime for.

I was at the Alrene's Grocery show. Incredible. Yes, W&L filled up our ears with just the two of them. It shows how great songs don't need huge bands or overdone production to make them sound good.
I was standing next to Sheryl Crow at the show. She's very short!

That was awesome...it felt to me like Wayne's World...but on a more mature scale... party time excellent..trrrulll..trrrulll...trrullll...
Loved the acoustic set...Mother of Pearl is totally one of my absolute favorites! When you guys were talking about the motorcycles and fur coats, I had images of the "Revenge" album liner notes... (The one and only album by Peter Hook and Johnny Marr) hahaha too funny...
Bring on more when you can!
Peace out!

Ditto on the "Mother Of Pearl". Always was my favorite, and hearing it stripped down like that is incredible. Hope you guys make it down to Memphis to play some day!

Fun show. Although the piece on the soldier was a little sad. The part about his kid really got me. It's wonderful to hear "Balloon" stripped down like that. Lisa did a great job... especially during "Mother Of Pearl" when she was belting it out towards the end. Wow! Maybe we'll get to see a live feed of one of the future shows??? Would love to see you guys in Atlanta. Check out The Variety Playhouse in eclectic Little Five Points.
