WooHoo! I am HAPPY for this forum! I have been a Wendy and Lisa fan, well, since they were both singing in lingerie. It has been a thrilling ride to watch them evolve over the years from musicians 'finding their way' (Wendy and Lisa) to musicians who are more confident and ready to create music with complex layers and sophistication (White Flags of Winter Chimneys). Throught this journey one thing has remained constant: Wendy and Lisa are extremely talented artists whose amazing musicianship is only matched by their amazing hearts and kindness! I am proud to be a fan and am happy to meet other fans out there!

Awww... it's good to be able to post at Wendy & Lisa.com.
When I think back to when I bought Sideshow, my first ever CD Single, I'd never have thunk that some 20+ years later I'd be receiving replies to messages from you lovely ladies.

HI all, I must confess to not having wendy and lisa's new album, but that's about to change! Btw This site looks the nuts, and i'm really looking forward to listening to white flags of winter chimneys. I bet it's awesome!
I've been a W&L fan since 1988. I love their music so much and so many of their songs are heart favorites of mine. I connect to their music on an emotional level.
oh hey! i didn't introduce myself. yo soy el madartista! but you can call me Chris. :) i've been a fan since the days of the Revolution. i was (and am) a huge Prince fan, and the girls just always seemed to add a human element to who he was. anyway, thru Family Jamm, Largo shows, shopping at Virgin, and now Twitter, I've been lucky to meet and know several of you. looking forward to meeting and knowing more here!

Hi Everyone,
I am so happy this community exists. I've been a W&L fan since the beginning - and its been amazing to watch/listen to them evolve as artists. Love the new record (and all the previous ones); the music just gets better and better.
W&L - I think its amazing that you guys have stuck together both professionally and personally all these years and never stopped creating.
Please go on tour (or at least just come to Boston)!!
I can't begin to tell all of you how happy it makes me to see and hear from you guys. All of you . Each and everyone for helping us get here. The love. You have shown us is serious juice. We will keep all this going for you
I know you have read comments like this over and over but just can't say enough about your new album. It totally ROCKS!!! True musicianship is hard to find these days, so your new album is a much needed and welcomed breath of fresh air. I have been a huge fan for many years, and you ladies have been and still are one of the biggest musical influences for me so a BIG THANK YOU!
I'm a biologist living and working in Fairbanks, Alaska. I've been a fan since I saw Purple Rain when I was 13 years old. I'm blown away by how beautiful the new album is, and it inspired me to register here. It's absolutely brilliant.
-I was 10 when Purple Rain first hit the theaters..and was in Washington DC on a family vacation that summer (of '84).
LOL, of course I couldn't go to the movies to see Purple Rain back then!! But I do remember seeing it whenever it was aired on HBO, maybe a year or so after that.
Evening all! I'm Colin, from Edinburgh in Scotland. And I've been a W&L fan for, erm, as long as I can remember, actually. I grew up with a sister who was (is) something of a huge Prince/W&L fan, so it grew from there and spread to me. And I've been hooked ever since!
And I'm totally excited to see the redone site. It looks awesome!
Greetings, I'm Jen...from Minneapolis. I first became a fan of Wndy & Lis'a in '83 when me and my friends were into Prince from I Wanna Be Your Lova and we would hang around outside First Ave filming Purple Rain but we couldn't get in but that's where I first started crushing of Wendy...so we'd get glimpses of what was going on. The lady I babysat for was Dr.s cuz so I used to get all sorts of goodies and inside info about what was going on. We were just sort of under-age groupies forever.
I had a really tough childhood and I needed Wendy and Lisa's well, unique?, creativity as role-models and their image to inspire me to be strong and be true to myself (which for a while was a copycat of Wendy). I remember I memorized Wendy's "Dark Cloud' monologue and would say it to myself when I was upset. I was 13, so don't judge me! In 1983, there were no fierce independent ladies. Beyonce owes it all to W&L.
After Parade, I fired Prince and then just stayed with Wendy & Lisa. That first solo record, omg-Like Waterfall and Chance to Grow, I'd never really heard lyrics like that, it was cathartic, I really grew up with those positive messages. It seemed like everything they were writing about, I could relate with. I couldn't have been more attached to the music they created, it's the soundtrack to my life. And now I think this is how music, in it's highest form, has the potential to change and shape people. Lofty but true.
{renata} hugs, you are such a good person, thank you for your kindness! Jen
Warm greetings, hellokitty. That is so beautifully put: 'The soundtrack to my life'. It's amazing how we can all relate to the the truely soulful musical W&L vibes.
What a great introduction! I think many of us relied on Wendy and Lisa as angst filled teenagers as a strong female role models. They are sooo cool and handle it with such grace and humility..
Here's to the classy ladies keeping it real (raised glass in air).
Renata is also fabulous. She is so patient and supportive with the peeps. She always makes sure we are taken care of and are in the loop.
mmm-hmmm, so anyone else have to go with mom b/c of the R-rating? I did, and for some strange reason, our newborn Christian neighbor. A few days after we saw Purple Rain, she came to my door asking if I’d give her my Purple Rain cassette because she was worried about the effect it was having on my soul- I’m not making this up, people. I was only 13 and didn’t know what the hell to say so I go, “Well, we’re Jews and we like that sort of thing.” To this day, I think I was such a bad-ass kid for saying that!
Were we all 13? Looks like! Movie actually came out when I was 12 - and my mom would not let me go to the theater. So I knew all the music by heart long before I saw the film. Strangely, by the time it hit cable in 1985, my mom didn't much care if I watched it. (R ratings become PG-13 when you watch at home?! I dunno - I never followed the logic. Although I have to say, "Night Flight" was far racier than anything in Purple Rain. A-U-T-omatic, baby!)
I was about that age 13. I snuck in through a side door. Before they put the fire door in. y freind went in first let me in. I sat on the floor so I would get caught but had a great veiw of the screen. That was the first time I had seen it. After that, got with with people who paid my way in. I saw it 4 times and each time if I got up to get something from the consession stand or go to the bathroom I had it memorized on which part it would land on when I came back lol. Sad isnt it? LOL
