Wishlist for Covers

I'd like to hear W&L do a Pink Floyd cover.  Why?  ....I don't know.  It would be an odd thing for sure, but interesting nonetheless.  Imagine the dynamic duo rocking 'Lucifer Sam', or a moody version of the instrumental 'Any Colour You Like'.

Or how about 'The Hardest Walk' by The Jesus & Mary Chain?

What covers would you like to hear?

Hey Erik,

A very interesting question! Something I've thought about before but of course now you ask all my random thoughts escape me :-)

JAMC would be v v cool. Perhaps another of my favourite tracks "Sometimes Always" with Lisa taking the Hope Sandoval part? that would blow my mind!

I'd love to hear them cover some Veruca Salt (i'm sure Nina wouldnt mind as she covered I Think It Was December) and funk up those guitar riffs on something like "Spiderman 79" or "One Last Time".

Will keep my ears open for other potential treats!

Al

mmmmm Fade Into You - classic - good call!

'Fade into you' is a beautiful song.

I've always thought that someone could do a good cover of a Cure song from Robert Smith's "warbly singing" period.  From the album, "The Top" through "Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me", he sang with that awful Muppet warble.  But the songs are excellent.  I bet Wendy could tear up a song like, 'all i want'.

Sugar - Gee Angel

Smashing Pumpkins - Obscured

Jimmy Eat World - If You Don't, Don't

Kirsty MacColl - Innocence (might be a bit of a stretch, but I'd love to see what could be done with this awesome song)

i second the request for Cornflake Girl.

Actually, I want to hear Lisa play any Tori Amos or perhaps her favorite songs that have a lot of piano.

One more request, since this is a wish list - Life on Mars and Be my Wife by Bowie!  I think Wendy could tear up the guitar on Be My wife.

In the spirit of Colicub's suggestion of a Sugar song (which is way cool by the way. Those Sugar albums are great.), I'll submit "Books About UFO's" by Husker Du.

The lyrics of that song are simple and weird and groovy > http://www.plyrics.com/lyrics/huskerdu/booksaboutufos.html

the line about the bag of oranges, the line about naming a planet after her = neato.

I hear Wendy singing it.

Oh man, excellent choice! I was wondering what Du song W&L could cover, but I always go back to Sugar. Believe What You're Saying is also a good choice.

Abba have recorded lots of great songs.I think Voulez Vous (I think my spelling is wrong) would be a great one to cover.

I would love to see some classic Vocal Jazz songs like "You Don't Know What Love Is", "Lush Life" or "The Thrill Is Gone". The last in particular I think could be extremely interesting.

Also "The Warmth of the Sun" by The Beach Boys would be delightful.

That's freaky, I was just about to suggest The Day Before You Came. Possibly even The Visitors.

Even more freaky, so was I!!  Or how about Cracking Up or The Visitors.  And wouldn't it be wonderful to have W & L working with Annifrid and Agneta.  A dream!

hiya,

great suggestions, yes it would be great for them to all work together, there must be something about bands who compose with guitar/keyboard which produces brilliant and varied music!!

w&l rock!

Sorry all, meant "Under Attack". "Cracking up" are lyrics from "The Visitors".  My mistake! Just so taken up with the whole idea of Wendy & Lisa and ABBA.

Another suggestion could be a W&L cover of Annifrid's "There's Something Going On".
