If you really want to have a throw back moment in the show about regrets, then play MJ's "She's Out Of My Life".

I think I'm missing the suggested theme, is it problems?

in any case, I would love to hear absolutley anything by Kate Bush

and Lovely Head by Goldfrapp would be awesome :)

I would love to listen to an acoustic version of "Red Bike" or "Balloon". ;-)

What I especially liked about the past shows has been Wendy's tendency to cover a wide range of totally different song material and issues she touched upon when introducing the songs. I.m.h.o. there is no real need of looking for "themes".

Looking forward to listening to the upcoming show in September.

A suggestion for a theme: Long Distance Relationships.
Song suggestion: Vanessa Carlton "A Thousand Miles."
Although in my case it's more like four thousand miles LOL.

Hi Wendy, few suggestions for your show...

heard of The Blue Nile? Automobile Noise, Tinseltown in the Rain or Downtown Lights.

Jane Siberry - One More Colour, Bound by the Beauty, or Miss Punta Blanca.

Dirty Projectors - Stillness is the move    Seems like they were influenced by you two and early 80's music.

Heartless Bastards - My Maker

Any Bowie - perhaps Life on Mars or Fantastic Journey

By the way -Thanks for turning me on to Komeda!  If you get a chance to respond, I am curious about the line in The Life --- "how did I get so serious" --- are you referring to yourself??

for Wendy's request of songs of regret, or making an epic fuck-up:

Can't let Go - Lucinda Willams

Hands Clean - Alanis Morrisette

This Used to be my Playground - Madonna

I've Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea that says you should shut your Mouth - Fall Out Boy:

...And I want to be known for my hits, not just my misses
I took a shot and didn't even come close
At trust and love and hope
And the poets are just kids who didn't make it
And never had it at all...

Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet - Fall Out Boy (I don't want to be a footnote in someone else's happiness...)

Oh No - the Commodores

the entirety of The Globe Sessions! especially It Don't Hurt, My Favorite Mistake (no duh!), and Crash and Burn (I bought the album just cuz Wendy was on it.  Shortly thereafter I went thru a break-up and thought "wow, were Sheryl and I dating the same guy?" lol. LOVE that album.)

KISSING A FOOL - George Michael

Samuelle - Vanity. Wild Animal and Vanity were more hot mess than pretty mess, and while i love most of the album as koo koo bananas guilty pleasure, Samuelle is always on my ipod as a lovely and poetic loss "...she could never love your heart like me, i'm quite sure we belong together... oh Samuelle, I'm running down the aisle..."

Here we Are - Gloria Estefan

Uggg... racking my brain trying to think of regret songs that aren't so love based.

Hey Wendy,

Some suggestions are Fait Accompli or Die Like A Dog by Curve.  Shimmering Warm and Bright by Bel Canto.  If you could find In K-Mart Wardrobe or Elvis' Rolls Royce by Was Not Was.  I'm pulling out alot of tapes that I haven't listened to in eons.  Those are off the top of my head.

As far as regretful songs.  Picture this.  It's 1990.  I'm completely in love or what I thought at the time was in love (when your 18 EVERYTHING is huge.) with my French teacher that is a super hottie.  She is 7 or 8 years older than the class so she is easy to identify with.  I had her for French class for 2 years and she would always come by my desk and stand next to it  and put her hand on the desk and I believe she was looking at me in class.  Prettiest blue eyes too.  Very affectionate type too which was very confusing for me.  She was just being nice clearly after 20 something years that is a realization but, at the time, when your in it and your 18 you don't see it that way.  All of that puppy love stuff on my part too.  Nervousness in her class but can't wait to see her.  Anyway, I remember her coming to graduation and her telling my best friend and I that we were the only reason she came to the graduation.  After both of us hugged each other she walked away and looked back and I looked back at her.  I wanted to say something but no words came out.  It reminds me of the end scene in Against All Odds so my regret song would have to be Phil Collins', Take A Look At Me Now.  It took me a long time to get over her and that summer my chest hurt and I would cry myself to sleep over not being able to see her again.  The next few years almost every sappy love song I would hear would remind me of her.  What Kind of Fool, If Loving You Is Wrong (I Don't Want to Be Right) and the list goes on and on.

Dear DJ Wendy,

If you are still in need of some suggestions or ideas... I'd like to recommend the following

Liquid Soul - "Stop" - One-Two Punch album (cover art is fun too! POW, WHAM, KAPOW)

Mingo Fishtrap - "Dirty Gritty" - Yesterday album  (love the whole album)

Miquel Migs - "Make Things Happen" - Those Things album (anything off that album is hot)

these are just some of artists which are in heavy rotation on my iPod as of lately..I've been in a funk-house-soul mood... so I guess that's my theme... anything with a heavy funk bass line is where my head has been.

xoxoo - DJ Suejester (this music gets the ladies off their spinning saddles and onto the road of sweatin and feeling good!)

Big ups and hiccups for Miguel Migs too but my vote goes for " do it for you "
