Hi GBs!!! Congrats on the new forum. Huge fan of all your work - especially solo, but also love what you add to His Highness' material. Can you please detail what exactly the two of you played (and on which songs) on Prince's Planet Earth project? Do your vocals apoear on that CD at all?
Sorry...same question - only this time verified and correctly spelled:

hey sportsfan...it's not up to us. that is entirely in the hands of Virgin Records. They have it available in the UK on a few digital store, so i imagine it is only a matter of time before it shows up here.
Pardon my inexperience in such matters, and I don't wish to speak out of turn, but why couldn't you get the rights back from Virgin or at least go in on a joint venture? Since I am assuming that labels are about $, why don't we offer them a share of the profits in return for you being granted the right to re-release the cd and market as you see fit? They don't have to do anything, and the fans, myself definitely included, will be able to acquire the album. It sounds like a win-win to me.
You need to have a little patients here, Jestyr. There are alot of questions being asked here, and not all of them will be answered in any kind of order. That doesnt mean your question was less important than the next. If patients isint a virtue of yours, maybe you should work on it. And when you do get an answer, be thankful for it. Whether it comes from W&L themselves or R..its all the same family.
Oh, I reckon my q should have been asked here...feel free to delete other thread...
Who the heck is performing in the skit at the end of the extended version of Kiss (no one is credited)? Jill Jones, Susannah? And how did that skit come about? There are a few songs during that period (85-86) with little comedic skits...too funny.

U think so? I didnt mean it to be...Sorry Jestyr, if it seemed that way. I just meant that you shouldnt take any offense if they didnt answer ur question right away. Im sure they will get to it. Just be patient....:-)
settle down....... it's true . the site is new, and we are folding this into our already insane addiction to twitter and facebook! hahaaha...... so please be patient with us.
AND PLEASE show RENATA the utmost respect. She is working her ASS OFF doing just about everything "Wendy and Lisa"!
We love you guys. ok?
SO, to get to the POINT.......... i don't think we did any vocals on that record that i recall.
maybe wendy remembers differently.
you have to understand that a lot of things get thrown our way, a lot of music is done and redone, and named and renamed sometimes.....etc.
so we aren't always totally accurate. but. . .no . . i think on "PLANET EARTH" we only added instrumental contributions.
thank you for your questions everybody.
i like how you all talk to each other too, but stay cool, ok? .. i used to tell my dogs when they would bark at other dogs or people, "We're the NICE dogs! ok?!"
Lol - I can't beleive ya'll already got chided by "mom" ! Don't worry Lisa, many of us have known each other for years and love each other - but yeah, we are a bit notorious for our verbal jostling!!
Thanks again for giving us this forum to reconnect! And for being so cool about answering our qs!
Thanks, Mom! I never meant any disrespect to your wife at all and I hope that she knows I was kiddin' her about the chopped liver. I know I'm not chopped liver! More like salsbury steak...
Thanks for taking time out to answer what with Facebook and Twtter and... what 's that old one? Oh yeah...actual life! Good answer, too. I appreciate it very very much!
Thanks for coming to my aid SOS, but I wasn't offended by any comments. I'm not a doctor, so I don't really require any patients. But as everyone knows, patience is tough for an Aries!

LOL You think that's profanity? I see you've never experienced a little song Lisa sang on called "Head." LMAO (Great treadmill tune, by the way.)
I love this site. Why is it that, when I visit it, I often feel an urge to go work on my own music? I guess the genuine artistry is contagious - so many artist sites are full of aimless blogs and glamour shots...with Wendy and Lisa you can FEEL how much of themselves they put into their work. It inspires me.
Plus, how cool is it that they take the time to respond to us??? Just another reason to love them! Now if you'll excuse me, Garageband is calling me...
The way I see it this is their site and may cuss to their hearts desire :P
Renata dont put ur wife on notice Ill pretend I didnt see a thing wait then again.....what....what did or was I supposed to see? O well missed it.LOL! hehe!
*acts innocent and slowly slips out of thread for time being*
S
BTW: Hi "Mom" *waves and smiles franticaly to Lisa*
Who's to say it wasn't Lisa who was the perpetrator to get the forum rules to be put in place.. LOL...
Anyway...I do have a serious question..well..a question on topic.. It's a 3 part question with sub-questions.
I was wondering how it's decided who will be the lead vocal on the songs?
Since you guys have been a two woman band since the Girl Bros release, what determines who will plays what instuments (aside from standard protocol)?
Does Lisa ever leave her "apartment"? I know she's played guitar on some songs. I'm just trying to picture her finger tapping a bass, or pulling a Shelia E on drums..
Does Wendy just sit down at the piano to chill? Of if she is playing piano, is it one of those Tori Amos or Little Richard acts?
i love the question. we have sometimes disagreed about lead vocals, but in the end it always turns out ok.
usually my voice is higher and has more air so i can do emotional and ethereal songs, cheeky sexy songs, or depressing weird stoner songs. ;)
wendy is more energetic and stronger in the mid range. we used to write particular songs with one of us in mind, but then it started to change and we would just write and then fight over who would sing it later. wendy is way more of a rock out type, and has a bit more clarity in her voice.
we sometimes disagree but not to the detriment of the song so it doesn't really matter. our songs are our songs!
as far as playing instruments, we really both play everything. i used to play the drums a lot. i still do sometimes. we both play percussion. hand drums, shakers, tambourines.. that sort of thing. again, wendy is super energetic and hyper in the studio, so i end up concentrating more on the harmonic or structural philosophy of the music. wendy really excelled on the drums after we lost jonathan. she felt compelled to play and take the torch from her older brother who was an excellent drummer.
also... sometimes we switch instruments when one of us has a writers block so that the other one realizes that things could be a lot worse, and we wrestle the instrument away from the other and SHOW UM HOW IT"S DONE! hahahahaaa...
but in the case of "VISTE" we switched for real to make it sound irreverant. in the first punky ''bad girl'' section i am playing guitar and wendy is playing the wurlitzer. cooooooooool!
ok well...... i think thats is about all i can say about that right now.
it's a good question and one that has varied over the years.

Hello,
Today's snail mail was fun. I received two of Wendy and Lisa's older cd's. Last week I received their new release. I LOVE their music!!! The two I received today were Wendy & Lisa and Eroica. Still have to get Fruit at the Bottom. I have it on cassette but wanting to get it on cd. The Wendy and Lisa cd I love that it opens with Honeymoon Express, Sideshow & Waterfall. I play those three over and over still. Then listen to Stay. You girls are killing me! I love it all!!!
At work I listen to Pandora Radio on the internet and Wendy & Lisa were the first artist names I typed in. That's how I got to know Eroica. LOVE IT!!! (I think back in the day money was tight so i couldn't get it then but have always wanted it). WELL worth the wait!
I jammed at work all day today at work listening to the 3 cd's!!! Gonna do it again tomorrow too. :D
I do remember the fantastic bridges between songs which wendy and lisa have frequently made use of in their live shows. "SPANISH HARLEM" was integrated in "LOLLY LOLLY". I can remember having heard parts of "BALANCE" in "SKELETON KEY".
In the live shows during the eroica tour there was a special "bridge" before "RAINBOW LAKE". I think it was Susannah who sang bits and pieces of the following: "Oh, oh, misery, I don't like your company", etc. Does anyone know whether these lyrics are taken from an already existing song? It might have been a new song written by the band themselves ... Who knows the answer? Thanx in advance :-) !
I've got the re-issued 'extended' edition of 'Fruit At The Bottom' CD on a loop in my car at the moment... keep changing which song I like the most. Today it's 'Tears Of Joy'.
Was wondering what 'I Think It Was December' is about as I listened to it on the way to work this morning. Any ideas???
