Fame

Hello, Wendy and Lisa,

I just watched your USTREAM Q&A on YouTube and it was very interesting and funny. Thanks for making yourself so available for conversation. :)

I have a question I believe you are uniquely qualified to answer, given your L.A. upbringing and the path of your career. In short, how do you feel about fame?

Because of your fathers' careers, you've said famous people were around during your childhood. Some probably handled it well, some probably failed spectacularly. You yourself were part of a pop culture phenomenon that made you wildly famous. On the other hand, you faced frustration and stereo-typing from this fame later on when recording as Wendy & Lisa. You've also said your prior fame opened few doors for you when you got into scoring. But now you've settled into what appears to be a very nice composing career that allows you more musical freedom, and, thanks to the "Internets," a more interactive relationship with your fans.

Do you ever miss the craziness of whitehot fame--being ushered through kitchens and the bowels of of arenas and hotels to avoid the crush of adoring, screaming humans--or was this aspect just isolating and tiring after awhile? Is it a period of your life that is not so much missed as it is used as fodder for great stories over a glass of wine? Does your current situation feel more emotionally comfortable--more safe--than when you were in your 20's? I would imagine that with Twitter and this website, you may be getting more out of it now, seeing as there is more conversation going on...and a little less screaming. :)

I ask this, as I mentioned, because of your background, and also because you both seem so down-to-earth, normal, well-adjusted and, dare I say, peaceful (or you're fantasitc actors on top of being great musicians). The tabloids are filled with stories of people who haven't handled fame--and its many shades--nearly as well.

Sorry, I know that was a rambling question, but, your career has been amazing and you have seen and done so much. I can think of few people more qualified to speak on the subject.

Amy
