Joy In Repetition
First off, the music you collaborated with Prince on is without a doubt some of his very best work, and your contributions to that work are incredibly significant! I too hope that more of that work will see the light of day someday. One of my favorites that must be a collaboration with you two is Wonderful Ass. Any stories from how that came about or what each person brought to that collaboration?
I also have another question I've always wanted to know the answer to that you might be able to help with, and if not no worries. I believe Joy In Repetition was recorded around the Dream Factory time, so I'm guessing you may have worked on it. The long version of that song starts with a Linn kick that echoes for a while followed by a few more drum notes echoing and then the beat comes in with the delays still going. I've always found the sound of the echoes really interesting, because they do not sound like the original drum sounds that they follow. It sounds like there is some filtering and maybe flanging on them. I know this is a really obscure question ;-) , but if you were there, do you remember what effects processors were used on this drum intro to the song? If not, any interesting stories about drum sounds during that time of collaboration?
Thanks!!
