Tchad Blake
I was wondering if either of you had an anecdote about working with Tchad Blake on Girl Bros. I'm a very big fan of both his and Mitchell Froom's, and I'm fascinated by the way that musical family spills over:
Tchad, Mitchell and Wendy have all worked with Sheryl Crow, Carla played on the Joan Osborne record Mitchell produced, W&L both appeared on the second Latin Playboys record, members of Los Lobos wrote songs for Joan and Bonnie Raitt with Mitchell at the helm, Wendy played on the Pearl Jam record Tchad produced, etc.
(And by the way, Sheryl's Solidify has always sounded like a W&L tune to me...and her keyboards on Subway Ride remind me a lot of Reaching One...)
Anyway - until Tchad and Mitchell produce my gritty cover of State of Shock with Joan on vocals and Wendy on guitar (hey, it's a daydream)...are there any stories about any of these musical intersections??

There's also the Tracy Chapman connection (produced by Tchad) which also connects our very own Renata. (Not sure if it was the same album though.)
Lisa Germano was also produced by Tchad, whom opend for Wendy & Lisa at their Girlbros. LA Roxy show.

Yes, I forgot about the Tracy record! LOVE that album. But then, I love just about anything those guys touch.

that is true. no, not the same record.
bonnie raitt is a bigger connection tho. i was her day to day when i started with wendy & lisa. i worked with tchad and mitchell on bonnie's "fundamental" album, which was their 1st with bonnie. after tchad was done with that, we started girl bros. in the same studio.

Fundamental is my favorite Bonnie Raitt record, and the first that introduced me to Tchad & Mitchell. Once I heard "Cure for Love" I was completely addicted.
Renata, please don't think me rude but I'm not sure who you are. What does "Bonnie's day to day" mean? I'm rusty on industry lingo.

oops, yeah.
i was bonnie's "day to day manager" i worked with her main manager jeffrey hersh as his assistant. we ran bonnie industries together at gold mountain entertainment. i started as a co-manager for wendy & lisa back then. i am wendy & lisa's manager and i run our record label.
