Wendy and Lisa chord shapes?
Hi Wendy and Lisa, I noticed that since the early days with The Revolution up to "This is the Life" and even now both of you use very exotic and dense chord formations for standard pop/rock progressions. I think I've done an okay job of trying to figure them out so far - I've adopted sus2 chords as a replacement for major chords...and I guess that's about it. On the piano I just try to throw in as many notes into a chord as possible without making it sound ugly. I'm not really a formally trained musician so it's very trial and error for me.
Not to ask you to give away any secrets but can you give me any pointers on how to get such a dense, Joniesque sound (without alternate tunings)? And are there any particular artists that influenced this element of your vocabularies?
Thanks so much in advance!
All the best,
